Meet the Gaborone Fashion Night designers!

So as I said in my previous post I was goin to do a post about the designers showing at the Gaborone Fashion Night on the 1st of April and here we are! 🙂

First up is Koketso Chiepe

Click here for a more extensive article in The Botswana Gazzete on her origins, her line and her future plans. Her line is called KOKETSO and was launched in 2001. Below are some runway pictures featuring her spring-summer 2009-2010 collection.

View more of the collection here.

The next designer is Indashio.

He launched his line in 2003 and his client list has included Nicky Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Kathy Lee Gifford, Lil’ Kim, Vanessa Carlton and Tyra Banks. Here are a couple of designs from his Spring 2011 collection:

He seems to like color quite a bit!! Click here to see more of this particular collection and check out his website to see some of his other designs.

The third designer is Mpho Kuaho. She owns ISSUES fashion studio at Riverwalk Mall here in Gaborone and I’ve found myself gawking many a time at some of the designs in the display window though I’ve never been inside. She is also the 2006 REDS African Design Award winner and has also designed numerous gowns for the Miss Botswana pageant. Below are a few pictures of some of work she has done in the past.

I love her designs! Very edgy. Click here to read up on her achievements.

The final designer, Botho Chalebgwa is fairly new to the fashion scene so I failed to find some examples of her work but I did come across an article from The Voice online she was featured in that interviewed young Batswana designers that were at the Young Designers’ Competition at the Durban July in South Africa last year 2010. Click here to read the article, it includes a couple of pictures too, I must say the next generation of designers are so so so serious!! Love it.

Just beautiful – had come across an article in newspaper about the fashion show and did a google search. Vibrant and alive, with that touch of grace. Will check out the designers. Thank you for this post.
